How To Improve Your Mobility

How To Improve Your Mobility

Aaron Alfson |

It is not uncommon to find individuals, both young and old, who have problems related to mobility. This is a serious health issue that sometimes leads to long term hospitalization. The good news however is that such challenges should not be setbacks to one’s personal or professional life. You can check out our collection of DME medical equipment for the best products. There is a ambulatory aid for every type of mobility problem and these devices make moving around a lot easier. The devices do not work alone though, they have to be used with accessories which make them easier to use and more functional. Accessories also allow for replacement that may be necessitated by wear and tear. A good example of mobility device accessories are cane tips.

Examples of mobility devices

Canes are by far the most used type of mobility device. There are several types of canes depending on what suits a particular individual’s case. The first type of cane is the straight cane which is the kind used by many people. The straight cane is usually used by people who are almost fully recovered or not too debilitated by the mobility issue they have. The other kind of cane is the one referred to as the quad cane. Like the name suggests, it is a cane that has four feet instead of one as is the case with the straight type of cane. It provides a stronger base than the straight one and can hold more weight. This cane is ideal for those who are just starting off on their cane use and who therefore need to exert more weight on it. Both canes have handles for holding on.

The other type of mobility device is the walker. Traditionally, walkers were mainly characterized by wheels to help the user move around. Technology has however overturned this look and the present day walker is now referred to as a knee walker. The knee walkers enable individuals with leg problems to move around comfortably and safely. There is almost zero chance of slipping with this new kind of walkers.
